Portrait and Memories: Legacies of Service
A Solo Exhibition by Jeanine Hill-Soldner
This exhibit presents a unique perspective on the experience of military service that is often overlooked- that of the spouse, parent, sibling or child of an active duty service member or veteran. Set in the backdrop of the mid twentieth century, a parent is away at war, while the families are left behind. The juxtaposition of the veteran portraits with scenes of family life highlights an integral aspect of military culture that is rarely explored. The paintings and stories provide a visual dialogue, a connection between the viewer and the veterans. This exhibit is a lasting legacy to the sacrifices and by those who have served in the past, present and the future.
